Interior Planning for Your Condo

I realize that even though it really is wiser to buy a home, some people just can’t afford it (although at Property Company of Friends, Inc. or PROFRIENDS, it is achievable) and they may not really be able to live away from Manila under certain circumstances. So I am writing this nice topic on condo-living for people who want/need to live in condominiums instead. I’m inspired to write this post because a friend of mine is thinking of buying a unit at Ilustrata Residences (also a Pro-Friends project).

Measure Your Space
You may have seen the blueprint of your space but it is still good to take measurements if the unit really adheres to the blueprint. Also, having a personal feel of how big the space may be will make it easier for you when purchasing furnishings.

Get Design Inspirations
Visiting various places may help you get inspired on how you would want your unit to look like. Also, look at various architecture or home living magazines. Browse the internet. Visit model units of various condominiums. Be inspired! Take it all in!

Measure Furniture
When window shopping for furniture and appliances, take note of the measurements. You don’t need to precisely take it. Just a rough measurement would do so you can plan everything and see if it fits. It would be such a waste to buy that awesome bed and find out that it won’t fit your space, right? Or finally buy a refrigerator and find out that eats space. You’ll lose a few bucks in order to resell it fast.

Visualize
Found something nice? Close your eyes and imagine it being in your space (C’mon! Use your photographic memory) so that you can be sure that it would look nice there. Some furnishings may look good alone but when fitted in with other things, it would look a bit out of place. Also, some furnishings tend to look nice due to the lighting of the store.

Research
Yes, it’s hard to fall in love with something that doesn’t fit. Don’t lose hope! Researching may land you on a much better alternative. You’ll get a little heartbroken at first. Just move on! NEXT!

Draw it
Got the skills to illustrate? Then use it! Draw how you would want your space to look like. Print it out and show it to the store staff when browsing for furnishings. They may be able to offer you products that are at the back or not on display. They may also be able to suggest or offer you products that would be available soon. Some staff know what items will arrive soon.

DIY!
If you can’t find a final piece that would bring your space together, maybe trying do-it-yourself projects would be better. It may save you money, too! The Internet is very accessible. Use it to find DIY ideas!
